In a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape where companies are increasingly required to integrate respect for human and environmental rights into their core strategies, Source International contributed to a new training course aimed at professionals seeking to lead this transition.
Organized by the University of Pisa in collaboration with Source International and other Rebalance project partners, the course “Business and Human Rights: Tools for Responsible Management” is specifically designed to support business owners, senior executives, managers, and policymakers in understanding and applying the principles of human rights due diligence – in line with recent European legislative developments such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, France’s Loi de Vigilance, and Germany’s Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz.
Structured around four core modules, the program combines legal and practical knowledge. It covers regulatory frameworks, impact assessment methodologies, corporate reporting and communication strategies, and models for responsible business. Participants will gain hands-on experience with tools to assess risks, conduct human rights impact assessments, engage with stakeholders, and develop strategies for remedy and mitigation. Case studies and real-world applications will allow learners to tailor solutions to their specific sectoral challenges.
The program features a distinguished lineup of academics and practitioners, including Eve Tessera, Théo Jaekel, Claire Bright, Federico Mento, Elisa Giuliani, and Flaviano Bianchini, the founder of Source International. Their combined expertise spans legal practice, business strategy, social innovation, and environmental justice.
The course will be delivered online over eight non-consecutive weekends (21 hours of classes), beginning in November 2025. A final in-person workshop will be held at the University of Pisa, with a blended option available for those unable to attend physically. Upon completion, participants will receive an Open Badge certification and two ECTS credits.
Applications are open until September 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM (CET). Interested participants can contact the organizers at info@rebalanceproject.org to receive full application instructions.
